Staffed by nurses and trained operators NHS Direct will give you immediate informatoin and friendly advice on what to do and what not to do - any time of the night or day. And of course, if they think you might have something more serious they'll advise you what to do or connect you to 999 if you need an ambulance. They'll also have details of other relevant health information services, and late night pharmacies in your area.
